It was built in 1874 as the headquarters of the Cornwall Minerals Railway but for many years was a depot of the Great Western Railway. The current depot operator (in 2016) WebFirstly on the south side of the line a complex of up to 3 sidings serving a facility of the Goonvean China Clay Company about 0.5 mi (0.80 km) distant with access controlled by a Ground Frame, the whole being removed in 1976 with most of the trackbed converted to use as a private road.
